What's new: September 2024

September’s been a busy month here at UI Bakery, and we’ve been working hard to make your coding life a bit easier. This month’s release is packed with some cool updates, including component enhancements, server actions, and a couple of other neat tricks up our sleeves. Let’s dive into the details below!

Server Actions 🚀

Server actions have entered the chat! These are actions that run entirely on the server, remaining hidden from the end user. This means that any configurations, code, or data specified within server actions are neither accessible nor visible to users—they are executed and stored on the server. Only the parameters sent to the action and the resulting output are visible. Local Storage JS API Methods 🛠️

We have implemented new methods for the JavaScript localStorage API, allowing you to manage data and property values programmatically. These methods provide enhanced functionality for storing, retrieving, and modifying data that persists across sessions. For an overview of all available methods, please refer to the documentation.

Azure Blob Storage: File Uploader Component ☁️

Say hello to the latest member of the component family: Azure Blob Storage File Uploader! Need to upload files directly to your Azure storage containers without breaking a sweat? We’ve got you covered. This component integrates smoothly with Azure Blob Storage, so you can keep things seamless and simple. 

[ON-PREMISE]: Variables for enabling/disabling UI Bakery Database and UI Bakery AI 🔧

We’ve introduced configurable variables that allow you to enable or disable the UI Bakery Database and UI Bakery AI features. This update gives you greater control over which components are active in your on-premise setup. By default, both UI_BAKERY_INTERNAL_DATABASE_ENABLED and UI_BAKERY_INTERNAL_AI_ENABLED are set to true. The list of the available environment variables can be found here.

Component Updates 🖥️

We’ve made some adjustments to a few of our components that you’re going to love. Here’s a quick rundown:

• Checkbox: validation setting and labels: for the checkbox component, we have added a validation setting block, as well as the ability to manage the component’s labels.
• Detail/ Form components: the ability to manage input labels: in the detail/form components, you can now customize the appearance of input labels. The new settings allow you to adjust the label orientation (vertical or horizontal) and alignment, and modify its color.
• Labels: Color property: a new color property for labels (featuring JS mode) allows you to customize label colors for better visual distinction and improved UI customization.
