The Challenge

The Challenge

From the outset, Spaghetti Bridge made a strategic decision to develop custom applications for most of its business functions. This commitment to "doing things differently" drove their desire for bespoke software that could adapt and evolve alongside their unique approach. They sought to avoid the limitations of off-the-shelf software with its rigid functionalities and predefined roadmaps. Instead, they aimed for tools that could be tailored and improved quickly to support their ever-evolving workflows.

When building internal apps it is necessary to understand the entire ecosystem, how will the separate parts of the apps talk to each other, how will the data flow between the apps, and what reporting and analytics tools will be used - all those points were taken into consideration before diving into a decision to use UI Bakery.

The Solution

Spaghetti Bridge

Understanding what UI Bakery was capable of and having UI standards in place (via wireframes and proper system design) could help save a lot of time in developing, even more so if you have a UI template that you use as the basis for any new projects.

Paul has admitted that the difference between UI Bakery's development speed and other systems he has used previously,  was unbelievable - they could create secure and fully functional systems in a single sprint. Additionally, the need for separate prototyping and wireframing has gone away as the prototype can be built as the first version in UI Bakery. Once the feedback has been collected from the users, the team could continue the development or even release the prototype as product version 0.0.1.

The main goals of the team with UI Bakery are the ability to build and deploy secure and efficient systems in short timescales, systems that can scale in the future and be used by thousands of users. Also, they want to build fast, get immediate feedback, and release ever-evolving systems - the way that UI Bakery integrates with GitHub means that managing their releases is fast and easy.

With UI Bakery, Spaghetti Bridge has found a perfect platform to develop applications the way they want to, and a technology that fully supports their application development process.

The introduction of separate staging and production environments bolstered quality assurance efforts, ensuring a smooth transition from development to deployment without any fear of impacting their users. Also, UI Bakery has enabled the team to use a separate SQL-based database solution that grants greater control over table joins, view usage, and lookups.

Being a fast-moving, agile development team that needs to react to the ever-changing needs of the business and as such, the company’s goals can be quite fluid, Paul considers that UI Bakery has helped them to meet those goals. While precise metrics on time and resource savings were challenging to quantify, the impact of UI Bakery on accelerating development cycles was undeniable.

Spaghetti Bridge commended UI Bakery's responsive support team and lauded the platform's rapid development capabilities. Paul did, however, identify areas for improvement, such as interface enhancements and community engagement features. Addressing these suggestions could further enhance the user experience and foster collaboration within the UI Bakery community. In summary, UI Bakery emerged as a catalyst for innovation at Spaghetti Bridge, enabling them to develop efficient, scalable, and user-centric software solutions. By leveraging the platform's capabilities, the company remains poised to continue its mission of transforming education services for students.
